Feb 15, 2019, 14:59 PM by Mike Ermitage

Hilco Streambank Hired as Exclusive Broker to Market Collection of 15,000 Titles

Hilco Streambank, a leading advisory firm specializing in the sale of intellectual property assets, is seeking offers for one of the largest single collections of microfilms ever assembled. A sale of the assets will be conducted pursuant to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code on March 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, by Hilco Streambank on behalf of the secured lender. Bids are due March 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Information regarding the opportunity is available here.

The collection contains nearly 15,000 titles covering various academic and historical topics featured in the most influential and iconic publications and journals in the world, as well as news weeklies like Time and Newsweek, entertainment publications like People and Rolling Stone, lifestyle publications like Vogue and Cosmopolitan, and sports publications like Sports Illustrated.

This diverse and comprehensive repository also houses the complete runs of hundreds of peer-reviewed scholarly journals from leading academic publishers, among many other content types. The entire archive has been meticulously preserved and stored, most of which includes every page as it was originally printed, complete with covers and advertisements. A majority of the archive is not available online today, nor has it ever been assembled into such a large collection as represented by this offering. According to Hilco Streambank CEO Gabe Fried, “The serials in microfilm collection is second to none in terms of variety, completeness, and quality. This one-of-a-kind collection represents an opportunity to control a vast archive, much of which is not available digitally.”

Interested parties will be able to acquire individual titles, entire categories, or the entire collection of assets. This is a great way for libraries and research institutions to enhance their collections and save valuable space.
