Hilco Diligence Services Fuels Continued Growth Hiring Industry Leader Tom Scotti in New Executive Director Role

Northbrook, IL (February 8, 2017) -  Hilco Diligence Services (HDS), a unit of Hilco Global (www.hilcoglobal.com) announced today that Tom Scotti has joined the company in a newly created position as Executive Director with a mission to support the firm’s continued expansion.  The position reports to Hilco Diligence Services CEO Doug Jung, who leads the diligence services and field examination practice.

“This is an important strategic hire for Hilco and will support the continued expansion of our diligence services business.  We’ve had robust growth in client engagements since we launched in 2014”, said Doug Jung.  He continued, “Tom Scotti brings considerable experience having worked across many of our important sectors including retail and consumer products.  By adding top talent like Tom to our team, Hilco will continue to deliver upon client expectations in every complex transaction we are engaged to complete”.  Mr. Scotti will be responsible for finding and executing on diligence assignments bringing his considerable expertise in the retail and consumer product sectors, troubled credit work as well as his extensive experience in credit and lending, syndications, work out and liquidations along with comprehensive field/on-site diligence experience. 

Hilco launched its full-service diligence services business practice in 2014 as an outgrowth of the overall valuation services business that it has built for the past 30 years.  During the last three years, HDS has experienced robust growth and has built a strong reputation for delivering precise asset-based field examinations and deal specific diligence analysis for lenders, financial sponsors, investors, corporations, and work out and insolvency practitioners.  Chief Executive Doug Jung has continued to support this steady growth by adding industry leaders to his team as well as grooming young talent from within.  Other recent hires are Robert Kuppens former CFO at Salus Capital Partners and Nelson Jimenez a SVP from JPMorgan Chase Bank in Chicago. 

Upon joining HDS in January, Mr. Scotti said “I am thrilled to join Doug Jung and the team at Hilco. Mr. Scotti is a well-known financial services industry leader.  He brings considerable expertise with over 20 years’ experience advising retail and consumer product companies that have undergone significant transformations.  Prior to joining Hilco Diligence Services, Mr. Scotti managed and developed extensive relationships with companies from around the world and advised businesses at every stage of their development including commercial lenders, private equity, venture capital and hedge funds, factors, distressed investors and liquidators.  Most recently Scotti spent 6 years as the Managing Director at Consensus Advisors in Boston representing companies, entrepreneurs, investors, creditors and lenders in financial and brand equity transactions.  

Additionally, from 2003 to 2010, Mr. Scotti served as President of the Appraisal and Valuation division at Gordon Brothers and from 1995 to 2003, Scotti served as the Managing Director of Fleet Retail Finance where he directed due diligence and collateral monitoring.  Tom began his career in the retail industry.

Mr. Scotti completed his undergraduate work at Columbia University and The University of Cambridge and he received his MBA at Columbia University in 1988. Tom is Series 79 certified.
